My cell bio professor was going over ways mutations can happen. For one, going to the beach so often will result in UV damage to the skin. Also, cigarette smoke, whether it be from actually smoking the damn thing or secondhand smoke, is another major factor. New fact I did not know until today: a very well barbequed smoky chicken breast is equivalent to forty cigarettes. :( At this moment, a student in the back of the class proceeded to yell: "you're ruining our lives!" It was hilarious.
On a sadder note, a UC Berkeley student died in a stabbing on frat row. It's always sad when somebody with such a bright future loses their life in such a tragic and UNNECESSARY manner. Journalists say it's a manifestation of the disparities in social and economic conditions between Berkeley students and residents. Maybe, but these disparities shouldn't result in death.
P.S. Nine Inch Nails just released their new album for free at NIN.com
